Looking at Twitter user statistics by gender, male users make up 60.9% of the audience. Only 39.1% of X users identified as female in this Statista survey.

Only 8% of American women have a positive opinion of Twitter

According to a 2022 study by Statista, 10% of American men have a “very positive” or “somewhat positive” opinion of Twitter – and 8% of American women feel the same way.

On the other hand, 15% of women report “very negative” feelings about Twitter, and the same goes for 22% of men.

Almost 40% of X users (Twitter) are between 25 and 34 years old

38.5% of Twitter's audience is 25 to 34 years old. Combined with the next oldest cohort of users, more than half of Twitter users are between the ages of 25 and 49 – Millennials and Generation X have their sights set on this app.

However, the average age of Twitter users is still relatively low. It looks like this is not the preferred social media platform of the boomer crowd.

X (Twitter) only has the attention of 6% of U.S. adults ages 65 and older, according to Pew Research.

25% of 18-34 year olds have a positive opinion of X (Twitter)

In fact, it seems as if opinions on Twitter are inversely related to age – younger people tend to have a positive opinion and older people tend to have a negative opinion.

Since 2014-15, the number of teenagers using Twitter has declined.

According to a study by PEW Research, 33% of teenagers in the US reported using Twitter in 2014-15, but only 23% reported using the platform in 2022.

Teen interest in Facebook also fell, while Instagram and Snapchat saw an increase (52% to 62% and 41% to 59%, respectively).

29% of X (Twitter) users earn more than $100,000 annually

A Pew Research survey found that 29% of U.S. adult Twitter users earn $100,000 or more each year. Meanwhile, only 18% of users earn less than $30,000.

More than half of X users (Twitter) have a university education

The average Twitter user is fairly educated. 29% of US adults who use Twitter have a college degree. In comparison, only 15% have a college degree or less. (Another 24% have some college education but not a full degree.)

640,000 users subscribe to X Premium

X introduced a new premium membership (then called Twitter Blue) in June 2023. For $8 per month, Premium members get a blue verification check mark on their account and access to other exclusive features, such as the ability to edit published tweets.
