As the airline industry continues to struggle, choosing a domestic airline is becoming more challenging than ever.
And WalletHub's current ranking of the best U.S. airlines for 2024 reflects these difficulties. The outlet ranked the nine major U.S. airlines and regional carrier Skywest Airlines, with only one taking the top spot.
“Airline ticket prices fell quite a bit last year but have started to rise again this year. Alaska Airlines came in at number 1 with a score of 68.07 out of 100, replacing Delta Airlines, which won the title in both 2022 and 2023.
However, Delta was able to compete with JetBlue Airlines as the most comfortable airline, thanks to excellent onboard amenities like free Wi-Fi and extra legroom.
The company examined 13 different qualifying factors for its report in three main categories: baggage and departures, in-flight comfort and cost, and security. Airlines were rated on a scale of 100 and given a certain number of points based on the category measured, e.g. E.g. canceled flights, mishandled baggage reports, legroom, Wi-Fi availability and more.
