The famous Mirage Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas will close for good on July 17, but gambling fans have one last chance to hit the big win before the shiny doors close forever.

Since July 9, the Mirage has given away over $1.6 million in cash as part of a promotion called the Progressive Finale Cash Giveaway to help the casino pay out its jackpots before closing, as required by Nevada state gaming regulations.

Through July 16, guests can win up to $1.2 million on slot machines and $400,000 on table games.

But videos on social media show that the raffle is going as well as one would expect. Excited players flocked to the casino to get a piece of the pie, leading to chaos and several fights inside the casino.

@vegasstarfish Chaos and fighting is breaking out at the Mirage Hotel & Resort as it prepares to close for good. All progressive jackpots must be paid out before July 17th and random cash drawings are being offered to all guests who play. This has resulted in long lines, unhappy guests, physical fights and exhausted staff. All animals at the Mirage have been rehomed in advance of the Hard Rock's renovation, Cirque Du Soleil's Beatles Love has closed and now all that's left is to distribute some additional funds. According to Vital Vegas, only 400 machines were in operation at the Mirage on Friday afternoon and all other machines were shut down to “finish calculating the progressive meters and check the numbers so that all money can be paid out properly.”

The Mirage, part of the Wynn brand, opened in 1989 and was one of the first luxury resorts on the Strip. It was also the original home of the Siegfried & Roy Show.

The hotel announced in May that it would close this summer. It will be renamed Hard Rock Las Vegas and the company will pay $80 million in severance pay to laid-off Mirage employees.

“Over the next two months, we will say goodbye to this iconic and historic property and then begin an incredible transformation,” said a statement on the Mirage's official Facebook page at the time. “We would like to thank all of the Mirage team members for their incredible dedication and for helping us deliver unforgettable experiences to our guests.”
