What Does It Offer?
M2 Crypto has features that will appeal to experienced traders and those who are just starting to invest in crypto. Here’s a closer look at what it has to offer:

M2 Earn
Earn allows customers to make money on their idle cryptocurrency holdings, with APRs of up to 15% APR offered. You have the option of choosing fixed or flexible staking plans, with the former offering higher potential returns. This feature is ideal for long-term investors who aren’t actively trading and want to maximize returns.
Convert
M2 Crypto offers real-time exchange rates with its Convert feature. Users have the ability to swap one cryptocurrency for another without any complications. This is a great feature for beginners or anyone who wants to quickly swap assets.
Spot Trading
Spot trading allows you to trade crypto instantly, buying and selling at the market price. With instant settlement, buyers receive the crypto as soon as the trade is executed, and the seller is paid at the same time. M2 Crypto supports spot trading with four order types: Market, Limit, Time-Weighted Average Price (TWAP), and Dynamic, with data provided in real-time.
Futures
Experienced traders can hedge against spot market volatility by trading futures contracts through M2, using Market, Limit, and TWAP orders. With futures trading, you are not buying or selling the actual cryptocurrency. Rather, you are agreeing to buy or sell an underlying crypto asset in the future at a predetermined price. You can amplify your position by using leverage (borrowed funds), but this increase risk and is not suitable for beginners.
Rewards
Like other crypto exchanges, M2 has a rewards program that’s designed to encourage users to remain active on its platform. You can receive rewards, such as fee discounts, crytpo bonuses or trading credits, for completing various tasks.
Are There Any Fees?
M2 offers 5 free daily transfers between UAE and Global accounts until 12AM GST, after which, withdrawal apply. Fees vary depending on the cryptocurrency asset. M2 also sets minimum withdrawal amounts. For example, the minimum withdrawal for Bitcoin (BTC) is 0.00014, with a withdrawal fee of 0.0001.
Trading fees are as follows:
- Spot Trading: Maker (0.10%) / Taker (0.10%)
- Futures Trading: Maker (0.02%) / Taker (0.04%)
How Does M2 Crypto Compare?
Coinbase is a global cryptocurrency exchange based in San Fransisco, CA. Users can trade over 240 crypto assets on multiple trading platforms. Coinbase offers advanced trading features including advanced charting and multiple order types. While Coinbase lacks transparency when it comes to fees, you can avoid trading fees by signing up for a Coinbase One subscription, which is approximately $30 monthly and includes a 30-day free trial.
Much like Coinbase, Kraken is a longstanding crypto exchange based in San Fransisco, CA. You can trade over 300 crypto assets, with hundreds of trading pairs. Kraken is perhaps better suited for advanced traders (trading fees are higher than M2 Crypto for low volume trades). Like M2, it also offers staking rewards. At the time of writing, I noticed potential returns as high as 12% APR.
How Do I Open An Account?
You can get started with M2 Crypto by heading to the website, and selecting “Register”. You can also scan the QR Code on the homepage to download the mobile app.
You’ll be asked to provide your full name, email address, and to create a secure password. After agreeing to M2 Crypto’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, you’ll be guided through the process of uploading a picture of your valid, government-issued ID. This can be a passport or drivers license. You may also be required to submit a document for proof of address purposes.
You’ll have an opportunity to set up 2FA for enhanced security. Once your account has been fully verified and funded, you can begin trading.
Is It Safe And Secure?
M2 Crypto takes its customers privacy and security seriously, requiring two-factor authentication (2FA) for transactions as an added layer of protection. Additionally, the company provides users with a robust risk disclosure statement, which outlines the risks involved with trading digital currencies, including technology, financial crime and cyber risks. In its Help Center, M2 also educates users on how to protect themselves against phishing and fraud.
All of that said, it’s important to know that no cryptocurrency exchange is 100% safe from bad actors. In fact, M2 Crypto was hit by a $13.7M security breach in October of 2024, after hackers gained access to M2s hot wallets.
While the company was very quick to respond and fully reimbursed impacted customers, it’s a reminder that the risks of dealing with crypto exchange do exist.
How Do I Contact M2 Crypto?
M2 Crypto customers can access live chat support, 24/7. If you are signed into your account, head to the “Support Center” and select “Start a Chat.” You can also submit a ticket via an online contact form and someone from M2 will respond as soon as possible. Additionally, M2 is active on various social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, and Telegram.
Is It Worth It?
M2 Crypto is not as well established as some other platforms, like Coinbase and Kraken, which have been around much longer. But if you don’t need to trade hundreds of coins, M2 offers features that will appeal to beginners and advanced traders alike.
Fees are competitive and transparent, which is more than you can say for many other exchanges. And you can take advantage of up to four order types with spot trades. While it’s platform may lack some of the advanced features of other exchanges, it offers futures trading, and advanced traders can use leverage.
Keep in mind that there was a recent security breach, so M2 is certainly not risk-free. It is reassuring that M2 resolved the matter very quickly and affected customers were reimbursed.
