When you think of DC Comics, you think of Batman fighting the Joker or Superman fighting Lex Luthor. However, when you're a kid playing with all your action figures, sometimes Batman fights Starscream from Transformers and Superman fights Mumm-Ra from Thundercats. DC has adopted this sandbox mentality into its comics in recent years, with miniseries like Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and the publisher's latest book, Injustice Vs. Masters of the Universe. What would happen if Superman from Injustice: Gods Among Us fought He-Man?
In the six-issue miniseries, the first issue of which was released on July 18, these two completely different universes intersect. “After the end of the video game Injustice 2, Superman has once again taken power,” explains author Tim Seeley. “It’s the alternate ending, it’s the dark ending. Superman has taken over and is using the powers he receives from Brainiac, and Batman must find someone to defeat Superman, and he chooses He-Man.”

“For fundamental reasons in the story, He-Man is like the good version of the evil Superman. He's a guy with all this power, but he wants people to have freedom and be able to decide their own destiny.” Injustice, Superman doesn't want that at all; so he wants control, so He-Man is recruited to go to Earth and beat up the evil Superman.
Both the DC and MOTU worlds are full of characters, so of course there will be some lesser known characters in the comic for the hardcore fans. This includes the addition of MOTU villain Scare Glow to the book, which artist Freddie Williams II said was no joke. From then on, however, the two creators worked intensively on the He-Man story. “Tim has incorporated so many cool Easter egg characters, deep holes in this Masters of the Universe continuity, they're a joy to draw,” explains Williams. “It's the coolest stuff, I get all the toys I never had as a kid. For example, the entire army of all Masters of the Universe. It’s great.”
Although Eternia and the DC Universe are completely different worlds, they fit together perfectly for this story. “Tim has such a deep understanding of Masters of the Universe that he was immediately able to connect it well, like a contrast,” Williams explained. “A kind of brightness in Eternia, Prince Adam's home planet. This is their universe with this dark, dystopian alternative reality of the Injustice world. I just read his first draft and initial thoughts. “It was a good fit.” An opportunity that I hadn’t expected, but it made perfect sense. I can't think of a better way to fundamentally combine and connect these properties together.
This isn't the first time DC Comics has worked on something with the MOTU property. “I think it's an interesting evolution of Masters of The Universe being picked up by DC Comics because when Mattel came up with that toy line and had a story to go with it,” Seeley said. “They said, 'Oh, we'll do a mini-comic,' and DC produced the first stuff. Basically DC came up with the Prince Adam story too and so on. It's basically Captain Marvel. It's a child who turns into something.” a superhero with a magic word. And this comes from DC. Everything is coming together again.
