According to the Wall Street Journal, Newmark has already donated over 20% of the $100 million to cybersecurity organizations and projects. Common Sense Media, for example, received $2 million to support efforts such as a cybersecurity awareness campaign for parents and teachers.

Newmark was worth $1.3 billion in 2020 and pledged to donate nearly all of his wealth to charity in December 2022. He told the Journal his donations were inspired by the Jewish concept of Tikkun Olam, which means “repairing the world” in Hebrew.
Newmark's approach is to find the right people, give them the resources they need and then get out of their way, his charity's website says. He does not impose any requirements on the organizations that receive grants to meet specific goals.
Newmark still has $88 million to commit of his final $100 million pledge. Applications are open through his foundation's website, where he personally reviews proposals.
