Apple just announced its first AI-centered iPhone.
Apple unveiled its new iPhone 16 lineup on Monday, featuring the usual Plus, Pro and Pro Max variants, and highlighted that the phones are compatible with AI-powered features such as AI Writing to make composing emails and texts easier. The phones feature a new physical camera control button just below the power button to make taking pictures easier.

Visual Intelligence is also an outstanding feature. iPhone 16 users can use the camera controls to take pictures, for example to capture details from a flyer or learn more about a local restaurant.
The phones also have “significantly longer battery life” and better performance thanks to a new chip, said Kaiann Drance, Apple's vice president of worldwide iPhone product marketing, in a press release. Preorders open Friday; the phones will begin shipping Sept. 20.

Social media has seen humorous, admiring and dismissive comments about the new iPhone. Some users praised the iPhone's new interface, particularly the camera button and visual intelligence, while others were annoyed that Apple was making what they considered incremental changes.
The new Apple iPhone 16 Pro is available starting at $999, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max is available starting at $1,199.
