There are more problems with the livestream on X with former President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk, and this time they are not just technical ones.
The United Auto Workers union filed charges against Trump and Musk in federal labor court, alleging that two men attempted to “threaten and intimidate” workers on the “X Spaces” livestream who wanted to participate in “protected concerted activities such as strikes.”

During the conversation, which the UAW described as “disjointed, disorganized” and “illegal,” Trump advocated firing the striking workers.
“I look at what you're doing. You come in and say, 'You want to quit?' You go on strike,” Trump told Musk via livestream. “I'm not going to name the company, but they go on strike and you say, 'That's OK, you're all gone.'”
The UAW pointed out in its lawsuit that under federal law, workers cannot be fired solely because of a strike and that an employer threatening to fire workers for that reason violates workers' rights under the National Labor Relations Act.

“Both Trump and Musk want workers to sit down and shut up, and they're openly laughing about it,” UAW President Shawn Fain said in an organization press release. “This is disgusting, illegal and completely predictable from these two clowns.”
In 2022, after Musk acquired Twitter (now X), he initiated mass layoffs, firing thousands of employees and executives following his takeover of the company. In May, Musk fired Tesla's entire Supercharger team after a manager tried to fight back against further layoffs.
The Michigan-based UAW currently represents over 40,000 auto workers and officially endorsed Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris earlier this month.
Trump and Musk have not yet commented on the allegations.
