The US presidential election campaign is coming to a head after it was announced that Vice President Kamala Harris is the likely Democratic candidate for the 2024 presidential election.
And while business and technology leaders are divided on their support for Harris or the Republican candidate, former U.S. President Donald Trump, one billionaire says he has been contacted about cryptocurrencies.

In an interview with cryptocurrency publication Decrypt this week, “Shark Tank” star Mark Cuban said it would be a “good sign” for the company's future if he were elected after Harris' team contacted him with questions.
“I'm getting numerous questions from her camp about crypto,” he told the outlet. “The feedback I'm getting, but certainly not confirmed by the vice president, is that she's going to be much more open to doing business, [artificial intelligence]Crypto and government as a service.”
Cuban, an avid Bitcoin owner and supporter, has accused Trump-supporting Silicon Valley executives of “playing with Bitcoin.”
“The price of BTC will rise due to lower tax rates and tariffs, which, if history is any guide (and that is not always the case), will have an inflationary effect,” Cuban explained on X. “Combine that with global uncertainty regarding the geopolitical role of the US and the impact on the US dollar as a reserve currency, and the stars couldn't align better for an acceleration in the price of BTC.”
Harris has not taken an official stance on cryptocurrencies in the past, but President Biden's stance has traditionally been unfavorable.
In May, Biden vetoed a bill that would have repealed the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) Staff Accounting Bulletin 121. According to Coindesk, the bulletin “directs financial institutions that hold cryptocurrencies for customers to keep the assets on their own balance sheets.”

“By invoking the Congressional Review Act, this Republican-led resolution would unduly limit the SEC's ability to set appropriate guardrails and address future problems,” Biden said in an official White House statement at the time.
Cuban is not an official endorser of any presidential candidate, but has shared some Harris memes on social media.
