We have great news! SPI Media has just launched its own YouTube channel!

Wait a minute, you say: doesn’t SPI already have a YouTube channel? Well, Pat Flynn has a successful YouTube channel with nearly 300,000 subscribers and over ten years of great videos. More precisely, we are expanding our YouTube strategy. SPI Media’s YouTube channel is our new destination for comprehensive educational content for entrepreneurs. In this post, I’ll explain how the channel came about and why you should remember to tune in!

Why we started a new YouTube channel

So why start a new YouTube channel for SPI? After all, Pat Flynn has been producing great content on his own channel for over ten years. Why not build on what we have?

The short answer is that it didn’t make sense.

Entrepreneurs have tons of questions about specific things, and sometimes the best way to help is through video – for example, a video showing you how to tag your subscribers in ConvertKit. So we wanted to find the best way to share video content that could help people with specific business challenges and opportunities.

But Pat’s channel is not the best choice for this type of video. Pat’s videos are designed to appeal to a wide audience and they use Pat’s personality. We realized it made more sense to create a new channel so as not to dilute the focus of Pat’s channel.

Because of this, the new SPI YouTube channel is less personality focused and more of a resource library. It is designed to help people answer detailed questions, solve technical problems, and get the most out of certain business platforms.

And finally, Pat’s Channel is Pat’s Channel. We wanted to make far greater use of our internal resources – our team – to create great business-building content. And a new channel was the perfect way to do that!

The nuts and bolts of the new duct

So what can you expect from SPI Media’s new YouTube channel?

As I just mentioned, the channel’s goal is to deliver a wide range of content that addresses specific needs and questions – a library of business resources, if you will. Find business building videos on topics that are key areas of education at SPI. We help people with everything from email marketing to self-publishing books, affiliate marketing, podcasting, and more.

Many of the videos are organized into playlists to take you step-by-step through various topics and processes.

We opened the channel with a basic video from Pat on each of the ten different study areas, and you can now find those videos on the channel. Each video is intended as a starting point for beginners. From there we will post new videos on each topic that will become more specific.

Who is behind the SPI YouTube channel – and where they are going

So who is behind this brand new channel? Well, you will still see a lot from Pat and Mindy, our solution manager. Mindy has been a key team member behind the scenes for several years. She manages a whole bunch of technical stuff for SPI and has a ton of knowledge of the software systems that keep our website, email list and the whole business running smoothly.

You’ll see other members of the SPI team contributing, be it Caleb on video production, Matt on business fundamentals, or Karen and Ray on content creation.

All of this means an even greater abundance of great educational content awaiting you! So keep an eye out for new playlists that will help people immerse themselves in the tools we use at SPI Media, be it Teachable, Convertkit, Circle or the many other platforms and systems we use and trust.

How we enlarge the channel – and how you can help!

Our team looks forward to expanding this channel to create a valuable resource library for entrepreneurs where you can answer specific questions.

But honestly, it still takes a lot of work to build a new YouTube channel, even for an established brand like SPI. Even a bigger brand like ours has to start from scratch on YouTube. We won’t get a lot of views or a lot of subscribers in the beginning. We still have to earn our stripes, so to speak.

How do we plan that?

First of all, we’re trying to use search traffic to grow the channel and attract more people to the brand. When you start a new YouTube channel, it’s all about creating content that people are looking for. This is how you get your first views and start a good ranking. Every video we create is therefore optimized for specific keywords that people are looking for on the platform.

It also helps to make a series of videos related to the same thing for YouTube to group the videos together. For example, if you create a series of videos about email marketing that people watch in a certain order, the YouTube algorithm will understand and present the series in that order to attract new viewers.

All of this means that we do what we can in the backend – but we also need our super fans to make this channel a success …

We know that creating great content is only half the battle – getting it in front of people is the other half. We’ll also be asking our fans to subscribe, like, and comment on social media, the SPI Pro community, our email list, and elsewhere to help us grow the channel.
