Around 10 a.m. Monday, Verizon users began reporting outages on social media and to Down Detector that they had no service other than SOS mode. Verizon confirmed the “issue impacting service” at 11:48 a.m.

The problem has persisted since its peak this morning, when there were more than 100,000 requests – Tom's Guide reports the number has dropped to 40,000.
Reuters reports that the FCC is investigating and “working to determine” the cause and extent of these service interruptions.

The massive Verizon outage appears to be spanning the entire US, with users from California to Ohio to Florida reporting problems.
Is Verizon aware of the problem?
The company is aware of the issue but has not publicly explained what caused the outage. On its website and on social media, Verizon said network engineers are working to identify and resolve the issue.
Is AT&T also down?
Although users also reported issues with AT&T, the company said there were no outages and it was just a residual effect.
